Barbora Myslikovianova: Journey to the depths of my soul

 

 

For some it's depressive, for others just halos, but for connoisseurs one of the most interesting authors of the contemporary Czech art scene!

 

 

Art Mozaika, Galerie na chodbě, Politických vězňů 8, Prague 1, is presenting an interesting and disturbing exhibition of Barbora Myslikovjanová from June 1 to June 25, 2021: Journey to the Depths of My Soul.

 

 

The exhibition features works on paper and small paintings by this contemporary and talented artist, who has already shown her paintings in several strong solo exhibitions. The exhibition is a cross-section of the last 14 years of Barbora Myslikovjanová's work in the field of smaller formats and introduces the viewer to a number of lesser-known works that reflect the artist's distinctive view of her personal life, but also of contemporary children and their often difficult adolescence.

 

 

The viewer can only guess how much of her generation's experiences and traumas the artist puts into her paintings and drawings, but in addition to the darker tones of colour, viewer often find decadent humour, exaggeration and boundless imagination in her paintings and drawings.

 

 

The exhibition at the gallery in the corridor is actually a precursor to a major exhibition of Barbara Myslikovjan's work, which will be held at the Art Mozaika Gallery in October 2021 and will include large-format paintings from several of the artist's periods - but this current exhibition should not be missed either, as it allows the viewer to become more familiar with the artist's techniques and her way of looking at the world.

 

Barbora Myslikovjanová (born 1989) is a Czech painter. Between 2006 and 2010 she studied applied painting at the SUPŠ of Glass in Valašské Meziříčí (under the guidance of L. Wojaczek). Then, from 2010 to 2016, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (studio of graphic art II by Vladimir Kokolia and studio of painting III by Michael Rittstein). She has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
